Our Nature Tours are the best way to experience nature and be amazed by the wide variety of colours, sound, movement, and life. You can take a hike, ride on a bike while exploring backroads, calmly paddle in the river, while waiting for our wild neighbours to show up. Learn about our customs and traditions on a coffee tour, or even just sit quietly at the beach while waiting for the turtles to delight us with their beauty spawning on the beach.

WILDLIFE KAYAK

HIGH TIDE | 3 HRS

Explore the waters and mangroves in the Samara Beach area on this guided kayaking tour. Paddle along the Ora River through mangrove tunnels, heading toward Camaronal Beach. Be on the lookout for native birds along the way. At the beach, enjoy refreshments including juices and beer while you learn more about the area's ecosystem.

Follow your guide through the water toward Camaronal Beach, listening to information about the Ora River's natural diversity.

LAPA ROJA TOUR

3:00 PM | 3 HRS

Just south of Playa Carrillo is Punta Islita, home to the Macaw Recovery Network (previously The Ara Project), a conservation organization dedicated to the survival of Costa Rica’s native macaws. Previously extinct in this area of Guanacaste, the Scarlet Macaw is now back!

The site in Punta Islita is home to the organization’s Macaw Refuge and Breeding Center, where rescued or injured birds from both species that can not be released are kept for breeding purposes. Their young are then released into the wild.

To discover Samara Trails on a different light, our experienced guide will amaze you with interesting facts, regarding our  biodiversity and its many wonders. Come join us to visit one of the only private reserves in Guanacaste.

TURTLE NESTING

A guided tour ups your chances of seeing turtles nesting and hatching along the Costa Rica coast. Not only does your guide know the best spots for seeing turtle activity during its season, but also provides tons of insight into the turtle life cycle that you might otherwise miss. We start our 2 hours adventure on the Tempique River, surrounding Palo Verde National Park. You would enjoy the dry forest vegetation; mangroves, perfect for birds habitats and for some other common animals from this region. You would also witness the transit of tons of different birds, local and migratory. You would get to see a wide variety of animals such as: Piches, Jesus birds, Macaws, Herons (Egretta Thula), Tiger Herons, Guacacos, WoodStorks, Jabiru birds, Wild turkeys, Kingfishers, Iguanas, Common Basilisks, American Crocodiles, Coatis, Raccoons, Capuchin and Howler Monkeys, deers and a lot more.
